William A. Meyer, the associate university librarian for information technology and acting associate librarian for technical services at George Washington University's Gelman Library, will become AU's university librarian Aug. 1, according to an e-mail sent by Interim Provost Ivy Broder on May 23.
Meyer, who is also an adjunct faculty member at Catholic University, previously worked in the Washington Research Library Consortium, at Harvard University and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The university has not had a permanent university librarian since December 2005, when Patricia Wand, who had held the position for 16 years, left to become head librarian at Xayad Women's University in the United Arab Emirates. Diana Vogelsong, who has worked in the library for 12 years, became acting university librarian when Wand retired, The Eagle previously reported.
