AU Eagle soccer prepares for new season to come

Men's soccer

The AU men's soccer team finished the preseason with a 1-1 record, falling to No. 21 Old Dominion at Reeves Field on Saturday. This loss follows a previous 3-0 victory the Eagles recorded on the road the preceding weekend against Radford.

The team opens its regular season in the annual D.C. College Cup against George Washington on Friday. AU is the defending tournament champion, having captured the crown at home last year.

Women's soccer

The AU women's soccer team was selected to finish fifth in the Patriot League preseason poll this season after finishing with a preseason record of 2-0. The Eagles received 48 points in a survey of league coaches and officials. Defending champion Navy led the poll with 96 points.

The Eagles open its season on Friday at home when the team takes on Manhattan as part of the AU Invitational Tournament. Other teams participating in the four-team field are Richmond and local rival Georgetown.

Section 202 hosts Connor Sturniolo and Gabrielle McNamee are joined by fellow Eagle staff member and phenomenal sports photographer, Josh Markowitz. Follow along as they discuss the United Football League and the benefits it provides for the world of professional football.
