Assistant vice president of Campus Life named

Fanta Aw was named assistant vice president of campus life Saturday, according to a letter to the AU community posted Tuesday by Vice President for Campus Life Gail Hanson on the university's Web site. Aw had been the director of International Student and Scholar Services since 1998. She will continue to direct ISSS until the university completes a search to find a replacement, according to Hanson's letter. Aw has a bachelor's degree in accounting from the Kogod School of Business and a master's degree in public administration from the School of Public Affairs. She is also a doctoral candidate in sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences with degree completion expected in August 2008, according to the letter from Hanson. Hanson wrote that Aw has been looked to in the past for her extensive knowledge in the areas of immigration, intercultural communication, diversity training and management by educational organizations and government agencies. Additionally, her past achievements include aiding in the creation of the nation's first Web-based information system for tracking international enrollment and developing diversity training programs for students and staff, Hanson said in the letter. -KIM SELMAN
