Hoyas ruin AU Eagles' 4-0 record

The AU women's soccer team was unable to score against its local rivals, the Georgetown Hoyas, leaving AU to suffer its first season loss in a 1-0 game yesterday.

The Eagles and the Hoyas played a solid first half. AU registered four shots on goal, including forward Krystn Hodge's attempt to score with just over 18 minutes remaining in the half. Hodge was able to beat her defender but came out short when the Hoya goalkeeper made the save. Eagles' midfielder Kelsey Brasher was there for the rebound but had her shot blocked as well. However, the Eagles quickly gained the rebound with AU defender Erin Stebbins. Stebbins was just wide of the goal, bringing an end to a scoreless first half.

The Hoyas returned to the field with more determination and quickly registered a goal just 15 minutes into the second half. Hoya teammate Caitlin Durkee beat AU goalkeeper Hannah Radley for the point. Radley made a total of seven saves throughout the game.

AU plays Towson on Friday night, where the team will attempt to get back on a winning track.
