Foo Fighters "Echoes Silence Patience & Grace" (RCA) Sounds like: AC/DC Guitarist Angus Young had a love child with Pearl Jam Singer Eddie Vedder.
The Foo Fighters' new album, "Echoes Silence Patience & Grace," is like starting up a passionate love affair with an old flame; it has the comfort of their signature rock sound without merely reproducing it, like many bands of their stature get away with. Once again, the Foo Fighters have completely reinvented themselves in the best possible way.
The album has a cohesive '70s rock anthem theme with a balance of hard rock songs like "The Pretender" and "Erase Replace" and softer "Battle of the Beaconsfield Miners" and "Home." This album has the soul of their 1999 album "There is Nothing Left to Lose" and the spunk of their 1995 "The Colour and The Shape." Every Foo fan will find a favorite in their new creation.
The single "The Pretender," first released in August, continues to be a chart topper and echoes the passion of "Come Back" from their successful "One by One" album. After last year's "Skin and Bones" acoustic album of past favorites, "Echoes Silence Patience & Grace" has the hard rock guitar and drumming that has been missed.
Our parents had The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and our older siblings had Guns N' Roses and Nirvana. The Foo Fighters are one of the few truly epic bands on the music scene that continues to rock out instead of getting tainted by tabloid drama.
