Music director Farley Miller spotlights Les Savy Fav's latest endeavor in this first installment.
Les Savy Fav "Let's Stay Friends" (French Kiss)
After the release of 2001's "Go Forth," fans of Les Savy Fav were concerned that the band's days were over. In the past six years, there's been little news from the group.
Finally, those fears have been dispelled with the release of the band's fourth album, "Let's Stay Friends." In all respects, Les Savy Fav have done the best thing they possibly can: They've become a better band. The songs are tighter; the performances on the record are more exciting and truer to their often-lauded live shows.
For those already familiar with the music of Les Savy Fav, "Let's Stay Friends" will satisfy in all respects. For the uninitiated, the band delivers an energetic and playful collection of tunes centered around vocalist Tim Harrington's charismatic howl. While some of their previous work has dipped into the arcane side of art rock, "Let's Stay Friends" is highly accessible and still refreshingly original - the group's vivid imagination at its brightest yet. This record should not be missed.
