Volleyball still unbeaten at home

AU extends winning streak to nine

The women's volleyball team triumphed again this past weekend, defeating the Colgate University Raiders and the Bucknell Bison. Bringing their record to 13-6, the Eagles remain unbeaten on the home floor.

Extending its winning streak to nine, the team is now 5-0 in the Patriot League. On Friday in the first game of the weekend, players Chelsa Brooks and Rubena Sukaj dominated on the court. Sukaj was the matches' leading scorer with 18 kills, four aces and one block assist.

By the end of the match, the Eagles had a .302 hitting average and 53 kills, while Colgate only recorded a .179 average. In the second match against the Raiders, Sukaj tallied six kills, and Brooks and Claire Recht each added four. Along with her kills, Brooks recorded a match-high .625 hitting average. Not unlike the first two games of the weekend, the Eagles were successful in the third match, hitting at a .389 average with 19 kills.

On Saturday afternoon, the Eagles hosted the Bucknell Bison. Defeating the Bison 30-20 in all three matches, the team was just as determined as it was when the weekend began. By the end of the game, the Eagles had a .471 average with 55 kills and a season-low six errors. Sukaj led her team yet again, recording her sixth kills-digs double-double of the season.

Games two and three proved to be just as triumphant for the team, as it barely had any errors and improved its hitting average.

Next weekend, the Eagles will host a pair of Patriot League matches. On Friday, they will face Lafayette. They take on Lehigh Saturday.
