The men's soccer team ended Saturday its season with a 3-0 loss to Bucknell, failing to advance to the Patriot League Tournament.
The Eagles went into the game looking for either a win or a tie against the Bison to qualify for the four-team tournament next week.
The scoring started early in the game. Only 14 minutes into play, a shot far inside the left post by a Bucknell forward was successful. As the Bison grabbed the early lead, the Eagles were not ready to give up, but their one shot on goal before the end of the half was not enough to place AU on the scoreboard.
Coming back from halftime, both teams were ready to challenge each other. AU out-shot the Bison with a total of six shots on goal during the second half, whereas the Bucknell players only took four.
A fortunate bounce for the Bucknell team added to its lead over AU. In the 62nd minute of the game, a Bison's shot tipped into the net off the leg of an AU defender, making the lead 2-0 for Bucknell.
AU's attack picked up its aggressiveness with hopes of shutting down the Bison's goals. AU continued to fire shots on BU's goalie but couldn't get past his three saves.
A late goal into the second half added yet another goal for Bucknell and brought them to a final score of 3-0 over the Eagles.
Overall, the team concluded its 2007 season at 6-9-3 along with a 3-2-2 record in the Patriot League.
