N.Y. councilman wants to put pigeons on birth control

Councilman James Odd wants to put pigeons in the Staten Island ferry terminal building on birth control, The Associated Press reported.

Odd's plan would reduce the pigeon population, and therefore the number of droppings they leave in the ferry terminal, the AP reported.

OvoControl-P could be mixed into standard birdseed, Odd said. The drug makes pigeon eggs unhatchable, according to the AP.

The drug has not been approved by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, but a similar drug was approved for use with geese last month, the AP reported.
