WCL law clinic receives award from immigrant rights group The Capital Area Immigrants' Rights Coalition will be giving its Coalition Partner of the Year award to the Washington College of Law's International Human Rights Law Clinic Wednesday, according to an AU press release. The CAIR Coalition will give out the award at its annual event. WCL Dean Claudio Grossman will give the event's keynote address. It is an honor to receive the award, said Richard Wilson, WCL professor and director and founder of the clinic. "I think it is an incredible honor and a wonderful recognition of the work of both the students, who have by far carried the laboring war on with them, and the faculty who have supervised their work in the clinic," he said. WCL's clinical program allows law students, with faculty supervision, to represent individuals, families or organizations facing alleged violations of human rights norms before international and domestic judicial branches. Law students in the WCL International Human Rights Law Clinic have given representation and legal advice to individuals seeking lawful immigration status, including a Haitian applicant, a Cuban national and a Sudanese national. -KIM SELMAN
