Eagles pinned down by Hawks

The wrestling team Sunday night lost its home opening dual meet 27-15 to the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks in Bender Arena.

The Eagles dropped the first three matches of the night. No. 14 ranked David Craig of Lehigh began the meet with a 15-0 technical fall in the 184-pound division, giving the Hawks an early 5-0 lead. Lehigh's Alex Lacocca defeated AU sophomore Brooks Keefer, filling in for defending national champion Josh Glen at the 197-pound division. AU forfeited the heavyweight division, giving Lehigh six additional points.

The Eagles mounted a comeback in the lightweight divisions. Jasen Borshoff and Matt Mariacher recorded three-point wins for the Eagles in the 125- and 133-pound classes, respectively. This was followed by a six-point pin by Kyle Borshoff in the 141-pound class, cutting the Hawk lead to 15-12.

However, the Mountain Hawks won three out of the final four matches to secure the win. Only No. 11 ranked Mike Cannon could record a win for the Eagles in the 165-pound class.

The Eagles record now stands at 0-4. Their next home meet is Saturday at 4 p.m. against Delaware State.
