College student charged after hitting Santa with pie

A University of Montana student has been charged with misdemeanor assault after pressing a pumpkin pie in the face of a mall Santa Claus, according to the Missoulian, a local newspaper in Missoula, Mont., where the incident occurred. Clint Westwood, a 22-year-old drama major at the university, told The Associated Press he "lightly smooshed" the pie into the Santa's face Friday and shouted, "What do you think of that, Santa?"

Westwood videotaped the prank and said it is part of a documentary he is shooting that depicts outrageous, and sometimes illegal, jokes, the Missoulian reported. Westwood said he and his camera crew were hoping to meet with the Santa after the prank but were confronted by police instead.

"It's a good thing he didn't wait around because I think Santa would have laid him out," Sgt. Travis Welsh of the Missoula Police Department told the Missoulian.
