Giuliani, Edwards end presidential campaigns

Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards ended their campaigns for their parties' presidential nominations yesterday.

Neither managed to win a single state's primary since the primary process began earlier this month. Edwards had won up to 56 delegates in Democratic contests, while Giuliani had won one delegate, according to The Post.

At his withdrawal speech, Giuliani endorsed Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who won the Florida Republican primary Tuesday.

"He's an American hero," Giuliani said. "He's shown character throughout his life."

Edwards had not endorsed any of the remaining Democratic candidates as of press time.
