Wrestling falls to Navy

The wrestling team lost a hard-fought match against No. 22 Navy on Saturday night, falling 31-16. The loss drops the Eagles' overall record to 2-11 on the season and 1-3 in the Eastern Collegiate Wrestling Association.

The highlight of the match was No. 1 Josh Glenn's pin of Philip Neese in the 197-pound class match. The defending Midland Tournament and NCAA National Champion picked up his 99th victory of his career. He is now only 26 victories shy of the school record set by Marc Hoffer.

The Eagles next return to the mat when they take on Campbell at Buies Creek, N.C. Tuesday.

Relay races bode well for AU swim team at FIU Invite

The men's and women's swim teams competed over the weekend at the Florida International University Invitational, placing third and fourth respectively. This was a unique event for the team, as each race was held as a relay versus as an individual race.

On the men's squad, the relay team of Joe Coronato, Brian Galm, Matt Pelletier and Eric Sveum finished third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:31.25. This was the highest finish for the team during the meet. The men also had two fourth-place results in the 200-yard backstroke relay and 500-yard freestyle relay.

For the women, the meet was highlighted by a second-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. The four-person squad of Eleanor Clay, Dorothy Isaacs, Mary-Margaret Lopez and Meghan Thiel finished with a combined time of 4:22.90

The women return to the pool Friday to face Georgetown and James Madison while the men have an extra week to prepare for their meet at George Mason on Jan. 26.
