Three members of the men's and women's indoor track teams entered the school's all-time record books Saturday while competing at the University of Maryland Terrapin Invitational.
Freshman Gena Turner, along with sophomores Dan King and Janis Irish, added their names to the top 10 list of fastest times in AU history in their respective events.
King established the fifth-fastest time in the 200-meter sprint, finishing with a time of 24.09 seconds, good enough for 18th place at the invitational.
Turner also competed in the 200-meter sprint, crossing the line in 29.45 seconds, placing eighth all-time and 37th in the race. Teammate Irish ran the 400-meter sprint in 1:07.23, which placed her 29th in the race and ninth fastest in school history.
Along with record-setting performances, the Eagles also had runners pick up individual titles in their respective events.
On the men's side, junior Carlos Jamieson took home a victory in the mile with a time of 4:10.77. Teammates Brian McCabe and Brendan Fennell, both seniors, also finished in the top 10 in the mile, with McCabe claiming third place with a time of 4:15.93 and Fennell in sixth place with a time of 4:20.56.
Freshman Colin Eustis was the winner in the 3000-meter race, crossing the line in 8:46.15.
Senior distance runner Cathleen Ford was the top finisher for the women's squad, taking home seventh place in the mile with a time of 5:11.76. This result was only 32 hundredths of a second off of her personal best time of 5:11.44, which currently sits as the fifth-fastest female mile in AU history.
The two teams next compete at the GMU Patriot Games on Saturday in Fairfax, Va.
