The women's lacrosse team lost 14-3 in Saturday's season opener in Columbus, Ohio, against perennial powerhouse Ohio State University.
The game started off close, with a 1-1 tie going into the 10th minute. However, after an 8-0 Buckeye run finishing off the first half, the Eagles struggled to find their footing.
Sophomore Amanda Makoid and seniors Lauren Aksionoff and Lauren Lane all scored for the Eagles, but their efforts could not slow down the powerful offense of Ohio State.
Although the Eagles were unable to pull through against Ohio State, the team has been predicted to place first in the Patriot League at the end of the season. In the Patriot League Preseason Poll, the team received six first-place votes and 64 points from the head coaches of all the Patriot League teams, putting them slightly above rival Holy Cross, which was predicted to take second.
The Eagles look to relinquish their loss when they play at Drexel on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
