I am deeply saddened by your endorsement of Mr. Andrew Woods. While I respect Mr. Woods, I believe your staff has made the wrong decision.
This obviously will not be the first time The Eagle has taken the wrong side in SG elections. After all, three of your endorsements last year (for VP, secretary and comptroller) did not carry out the entirety of their terms. Taz Jones is one of the most articulate, intelligent and capable people I have met on this campus. When the man sets his mind to something, he approaches it with the same steadfastness Gen. George Patton would display in marching an army through Europe. Sure, he may lack the same experience in Student Government that Andrew Woods may have, but Woods himself was nearly suspended by the Undergraduate Senate for poor attendance.
Additionally, Taz is both the founder and president of the only club on campus working to reform the JAMS policy. As president, he understands the intricacies involved in dealing with the Club Council, and he has proven himself to be an excellent programmer.
Also, Mr. Jones approaches his candidacy very seriously. He is extremely concerned with the important issues facing this campus. Even if the office of vice president was not created to specifically deal with policy initiatives, he could still help steer the SG in the right direction. You guys just endorsed someone because he wants to bring cooler bands to the school. Congratulations, you have proven once again your dubious journalistic standards. I am somewhat irked, but I am confident that Tazewell Jones will be elected as AU's new vice president is spite of your endorsement for another candidate.
