The Delta Gamma sorority is planning on selling designer jeans at discounted prices Thursday to support its philanthropy in the SIS lounge, according to Christine Lutz, a sophomore in the School of International Service and coordinator for the event.
Proceeds from the sales will support Service for Sight, the sorority's international philanthropy since 1936, according to Lutz.
"It's a great philanthropy because it gives us the opportunity to help local organizations in the D.C. community," she said.
Lutz said the idea to sell denim came from the sorority's work with Charity Denim, a fundraising organization. Charity Denim has already helped raise more than $100,000 for many different charities.
"What a better way to support a charity than to go shopping?" Lutz said.
People will be able to use debit and credit cards to purchase the jeans, she said.
