The women's lacrosse team scored the first and last goals during their game against the Holy Cross Crusaders Saturday and won 17-10.
The game started with sophomore midfielder Amanda Makoid's goal at 26:51, which gave AU an early 1-0 lead. The Crusaders answered seven minutes later and tied the score at 1-1.
AU continued with momentum as junior Kira Sonberg and senior Lauren Lane scored a pair of goals, which brought AU's lead to 4-1 with a little more than six minutes remaining in the first half. Before the half ended, Lane completed her first-half hat trick while senior Jackie Lane scored her 34th goal of the season and senior Brittany Finnegan scored a free position goal. AU went into halftime with an 8-1 lead.
The crusaders opened up the second half with a bang, going on a 4-0 run to cut into the Eagle lead 8-5. It wouldn't be long before the Eagles responded.
Attack Jackie Lane scored her second goal of the game and brought the score to 9-5. The Crusaders did not give up and attempted to bring the Eagles' lead to a halt again when they scored two consecutive goals - the move brought the score within two points.
The teams traded the next few goals and brought the score to 10-8 halfway through the second half.
During the final ten minutes of game play, the Eagles scored five goals against the Crusaders.
AU will host Colgate in its final game of the season Saturday at noon. The team will honor the seven seniors on the team prior to the start of the game and will host a tailgate party after the game.
