Monday, April 21 Lecture: "How Shakespeare Made History" 8 p.m. WHERE: Folger Shakespeare Library, 201 East Capitol St. S.E. METRO: Capitol South (orange and blue lines) INFO: Columbia University professor Alan Stewart will discuss the parallels between the kings William Shakespeare created in his works and the historical figures of the time. Tuesday, April 22 Lecture: "For The Greener Good: Planning for a Chinese Century" 6:30-8 p.m. WHERE: National Building Museum, 401 F St. N.W. METRO: Judiciary Square (red line) INFO: This lecture will explore China's plans for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the tension between cultural preservation and the creation of new "green" buildings. Wednesday, April 23 Music: "Fifth Annual Congressional Blues Festival" 6-11 p.m. WHERE: John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the intersection of New Hampshire and Virginia avenues and Rock Creek Parkway N.W. METRO: Foggy Bottom/GWU (orange and blue lines) INFO: There will be three stages of non-stop performances that celebrate the American Roots music and the work of the Music Maker Relief Foundation. The Robert Cray Band, Elvin Bishop and other groups will perform during the festival. Admission for this event is free, but people must have tickets, which they can purchase online. Thursday, April 24 Exhibition tour: "1900 to Now: An Introduction to the East Building Collection" 1:30 p.m. WHERE: National Gallery of Art, at the National Mall between Third and Seventh streets at Constitution Avenue N.W. METRO: Judiciary Square (red line) INFO: Attend a tour showcasing Calder, Matisse, Picasso, Pollock, and Rothko's 20th century works. Admission for this event is free. Friday, April 25 Film: "Secret Sunshine" 7 p.m. WHERE: Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, Jefferson Drive at 12th Street S.W. METRO: Smithsonian (orange and blue lines) INFO: Lee Chang-dong's most recent film reveals the story of a grieving mother seeking solace. The film, part of the Korean Film Festival, raises thought-provoking questions about faith, love and loss. Admission is free but people must have a ticket to attend. Saturday, April 26 "Adams Morgan Art Market" Noon WHERE: Adams Morgan, 18th and Wyoming streets N.W. on the Marie Reed School Plaza METRO: Dupont Circle (red line) INFO: This weekly outdoors market features local artists photography, pottery, handmade woodworking, jewelry, flowers, food and additional products for sale. Sunday, April 27 Walking tour: "Spies of Georgetown" 1 p.m. WHERE: Georgetown, the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and R Street N.W. METRO: Take the 36 Metrobus towards Naylor Road station INFO: This two-and-a-half hour walking tour will highlight sites associated with spies, counter-spies and covert action successes and failures in the historic Georgetown.
