Cross Country Brief

RINEHARDT, JAMIESON PACE AU CROSS COUNTRY AT NAVY INVITATIONAL

Freshman Octavia Rinehardt finished in 10th place and senior Carlos Jamieson crossed the line in 20th place to lead their respective squads at the Navy Invitational on Saturday.

Rinehardt was the top Eagle on the women's side for the second straight meet, completing the course in 23:18.00.

Jamieson, who made his 2008 debut at the meet, finished with a time of 26:05.00.

A total of 15 teams and 149 athletes competed on the men's side while the women's side had 16 teams and 216 athletes in the invitational, which was the largest in the event's history.

Overall, AU finished ninth as a team for both the men and women.

The runners will have two weeks off before they travel to Bethlehem, Pa., on Oct. 3 to take part in the Paul Short Invitational.
