Bolivian President Evo Morales began a weeklong march to La Paz, Bolivia, to pressure Congress to schedule a referendum on a newly drafted constitution.
Morales joined 3,000 other marchers, including trade unionists and grassroots organization members, according to the Inter Press Services.
The constitution was drafted in December, but has not passed because of right-wing opposition in the Senate, the IPS reported.
"This march is not one of pain, but is marked by honor and pride in our dear fatherland, for the quality of all Bolivians," Morales said in a speech given before the march began, according to IPS.
