Police blotter

Oct. 21

A Public Safety aide reported an unconscious student in a bathroom. When officers arrived, the student appeared to be intoxicated but was conscious and coherent. The student stated he was not intoxicated but was suffering from a severe stomach ailment. D.C. Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived on the scene. The student signed a medical refusal form and walked to his residence hall unassisted.

Oct. 22

Several ink cartridges were taken from an unsecured room used for storage for AU staff.

A desk receptionist reported a student appeared to have had a seizure and fell to the ground. Officers found the student unconscious and requested DCFD assistance. The student regained consciousness and was transported to Sibley Hospital.

A DCFD and EMS employee reported damaged to a storm drain caused when an engine was attempting to back out of the main quad. Officials took pictures of the scene.

Oct. 24

DCFD and EMS transported an intoxicated student to Sibley Hospital. A witness said the student drank multiple shots of tequila and vodka at an off-campus location.

Oct. 25

A parking citation was issued to an individual's vehicle after the individual failed to comply with an officer's direction not to park in a particular area in front of the Kreeger building.

While investigating a vehicle alarm activation, an AU officer discovered a briefcase in the Sports Center Garage. Occupants in several buildings evacuated. The Metropolitan Police Department's Explosive Ordinance Division "disrupted" (systematically destroyed) the briefcase. No explosive devices were detected. The briefcase contained equipment. A name was found in the remains of the briefcase.

Oct. 26

A parent reported her daughter was missing after the daughter stormed out of the parent's hotel room. Several hours later, the parent advised her daughter had returned and was fine.

Oct. 27

A bicycle was stolen from the Hurst Hall parking area while the owner was in class. The owner was unsure as to whether the bicycle was locked.

Oct. 28

Officers observed an individual in the Letts-Anderson quad who had been previously barred from campus. The individual had no valid reason for being on campus. The individual was issued another barring notice and was escorted off campus.

A multi-purpose power washer was taken from an unsecured pot room in the Terrace Dining Room. The reporting person's office conducted its own investigation prior to alerting Public Safety.

A DPS officer extinguished a trash can fire with a fire extinguisher and water outside of the McKinley Building. No injuries were reported. The trash can was destroyed.

An individual's heel caught on a step causing her to fall forward down the stairs in Beeghley. Her face struck a lower step. She was conscious and coherent upon officer's arrival. DCFD transported her to Sibley.
