"Crucial Waters" 7:30 p.m. WHERE: National Geographic Society, Grosvenor Auditorium, 17th and M Streets N.W. METRO: Farragut North (red line) INFO: See the ocean as underwater photographer Brian Skerry has seen it in this compelling exhibit covering many different aspects of ocean life. COST: $18

Friday, Nov. 7 "Adrift in Tokyo" 7 p.m. WHERE: Freer Gallery of Art, Meyer Auditorium, Jefferson Drive at 12th Street S.W. METRO: L'Enfant Plaza (green, yellow, blue and orange lines) INFO: Part of the Presentation of Roads to the Interior: Another Side of Japanese Cinema, director Satoshi Miki will lead a discussion after the film. Miki emphasizes the absurdity of everyday life and is a well-known director in Japan. The film follows a young slacker in his eighth year of college who receives a strange offer from a debt collector he can't refuse. The film is in Japanese with English subtitles. COST: Free, but tickets are required

Saturday, Nov. 8 Green Festival 10 a.m.-7 p.m. WHERE: Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place N.W. METRO: Mount Vernon Square/Convention Center (green and yellow lines) INFO: Learn more about key D.C. environmental initiatives with the help of more than 125 speakers and 350 green businesses. The Green Festival is the largest sustainability event in the world. COST: Free

Sunday, Nov. 9 Cultura! 1 p.m. WHERE: Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, 1661 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W. METRO: Farragut West (blue and orange lines) INFO: Spend this Sunday afternoon being classy with cheese and wine tastings to celebrate Italian culture. Singer Antonio Giuliano will perform a recital. "Transcending Tradition: A Festival of Indian Dance" 6:30 p.m. WHERE: Harold and Sylvia Greenberg Theatre, 4200 Wisconsin Ave. N.W. METRO: Tenleytown-AU (red line) INFO: Classical Indian dance will be performed by Kalanidhi Dance and will dazzle audiences with its cultural energy. COST: $25
