School of Communication professor Chris Palmer will be recognized with the International Wildlife Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award for Media, according to information on SOC's Web site.
The IWFF's Lifetime Achievement Award for Media is the organization's highest honor.
Palmer, who joined AU's faculty in 2004, was the creator of the Center for Environmental Filmmaking in SOC.
He has produced several award-wining films focusing on threatened species and habitats for both television and IMAX, many of which have won both him and his colleagues two Emmys and an Oscar nomination, according to the SOC Web site.
Palmer is also the founder of the National Audubon Society Productions, and the founder of National Wildlife Productions, both of which are non-profit organizations, according to the IWFF Web site.
Palmer will receive his award on May 15, 2009 at the 32nd IWFF award ceremony.
