D.C. will serve as party center for a nationwide birthday celebration for Abraham Lincoln's bicentennial. Museums, including the Smithsonian museums, and theaters announced their plans Thursday for the yearlong celebration.
More than 80 events and programs in honor of the 16th president will run from January to April, according to the Associated Press.
Highlights of the anticipated events includes a reenactment of Lincoln's inaugural address on Jan. 31 in the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery, as well as a dozens of Lincoln impersonators to swarm the District in April during the American Association of Lincoln Presenters' annual convention in suburban Maryland, the AP reported.
D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia and Chicago will also host forums on race and equality in the upcoming months, according to the AP.
