Back-to-back wins for Eagles

Nine different Eagles team members scored Tuesday night as the AU women's basketball team won their second game in a row, defeating the University of Maryland Eastern Shore 66-40. The win improves the Eagles' record to 5-3 on the season.

AU started off red-hot and never looked back. Sophomore forward Liz Leer scored six of her game-high 14 points in the opening minutes to help the Eagles start a 13-0 run to start the game.

The Eagles would continue their strong lead throughout the first half, remaining up by double-digits for the remainder of the half before taking a 35-23 lead into halftime.

The second half was more of the same for AU, pushing their lead to as much as 22 points, at 52-30 with ten minutes left in the game before cruising to the eventual 66-40 victory.

Leer scored a game-high 14 points for the Eagles, while teammate sophomore forward Michelle Kirk recorded 13 points of her own in the victory. Senior guard Talicia Jackson and redshirt junior guard Nicole Ryan also had nine points in the game.

The Eagles look to continue their winning ways when they host the University of Rhode Island at 2 p.m. Sunday in Bender Arena.
