Students win a sweet third place in marketing contest

Six Kogod School of Business students placed third in a Divine Chocolate marketing competition sponsored by Divine Chocolate.

The participants teamed up to create a marketing campaign to introduce Divine Chocolate to college students. Parts of the competition included creating an executive summary, doing research on their market and compiling a budget plan, according to a Kogod press release.

The students' team was among 15 other teams in the competition. Judges based their decisions on how well each team's plan would increase chocolate sales and inform consumers about the mission behind Divine Chocolate.

Divine Chocolate differs from other chocolate brands because it is made from fair-trade cocoa grown in Africa according to the company's Web site. The company hopes that by working with a fair-trade product they will have better business practices within Africa and help minimize poverty.
