AU signs on with National Archives

AU Provost Scott Bass signed a five-year agreement with the National Archives, AU announced in a press release this week.

The agreement will allow for collaborative work between teachers, students and the Archives. AU faculty will be able to work with members of the archive staff on projects; they will also be able to consult archive staff with questions.

Students may work with Archive staff through internships and field studies.

Bass expressed his pride on signing the agreement with the National Archives.

"This is arguably the finest archival records in the U.S." Bass said in the press release. "People from all over the country and all over the world fly in to have that access."

AU history department chairman Robert Griffith and College of Arts and Sciences professor Richard Breitman are credited for taking charge of the collaboration between the two parties. Although it was the history department that originally began work on the project, several other AU departments have expressed interest in working with the Archives as well.
