The best editorials are those that challenge the way that you think or challenge authority or stand out for some wrong that has been perpetuated against the people. While The Eagle often has a well-written editorial that challenges something going on at AU, this past Monday's issue was so far off the mark to be laughable. AU does several things very well. We are a great academic powerhouse, we make really great hot chocolate at Pura Vida, and we really involve students in the decision making process. The bridge project that you referenced has been under serious talks for the past three years as a way of improving the Mary Graydon space to be more student centered.
Why do I know this? Because I sat in meetings with our talented University Center Staff, four or five other students, elected student government officials and others to plan, to talk and to develop a better student centered experience. The same year we talked about the bridge project students were also told that we were switching from Bermuda Grass to T-10 grass on the soccer field, we were told about steam pipe repairs, the Kogod School of Business expansion, you name it. All of this information is distributed through to students through elected student leaders and others. Perhaps the better question to ask is why didn't the Graduate Leadership Council or Student Government leaders let the rest of the student body know about it?
