Track and Field brief

Jamieson to run 5k in IC4A championships

AU senior runner Carlos Jamieson raced his way to a first place finish in the 5000 meters at the Patriot League indoor track championship at the U.S. Naval Academy Saturday.

Jamieson was the only individual representative of the AU men's track team and finished the 5K with a personal best time of 14:25.84. The time qualifies him for the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America indoor track and field championship.

Despite being the No. 7 seed, Jamieson narrowly beat out the U.S. Military Academy's John Anderson by 0.7 seconds. After the race, Jamieson also helped Dan King, Alex Hula and Conor Sullivan place fourth in a field of eight in the 4x800 meter race. The team finished the race in 7:38.54 and also qualified for the IC4A.

AU junior Rachel Forcino had the best finish for the women's team. She ran the 5000-meter race in 17:57.52, finishing in ninth place overall in a field of 25. Her time ranks fourth all-time amongst AU women's runners.

The IC4A championships will be held March 7-8.
