Egyptian conjoined twins separated

A team of Saudi surgeons successfully separated a pair of Egyptian conjoined twins Saturday, CNN.com reported.

The boys, Hassan and Mahmoud, were less than one year old and were the 21st pair successfully separated without charge under a philanthropic program started by Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdul Azziz, according to CNN.com.

Of the 54 pairs of twins that the medical team has assessed, 21 have been deemed fit for the surgery. All the surgeries have been successful, CNN.com reported.

Although the 15-hour-long separation is complete, Hassan and Mahmoud are still undergoing other operations, including surgeries to reconstruct their digestive systems.
