Women's bball brief

Women's basketball falls at WNIT

For the second straight season, the AU women's basketball team lost a nail-biter in the first round of the Women's NIT, falling to James Madison University 61-59 Friday night.

After a 6-0 scoring run by AU tied at 59 with 2:28 to play, James Madison's Sarah Williams hit two free-throws that proved to be the eventual difference in the game, as neither team was able to score a basket the remainder of the match.

Sophomore forward Michelle Kirk led the Eagles in scoring with 18 points in the losing effort, which ended the Eagles' season with a 19-12 record overall.
