Police blotter

Oct. 21 A fire emergency exit doorframe beam was damaged in Anderson Hall. Facilities Management responded to the scene and was able to make repairs.

Department of Public Safety, D.C. Fire Department and the Metropolitan Police Department responded to an Anderson Hall room. MPD transported a sick student to a hospital.

Letters were taken from a sign at the northern entrance to the Kogod School of Business.

An unattended wallet was taken while the victim stepped away to take a phone call in the Bender Library.

A laptop computer was stolen from a locker in the Washington College of Law. The victim is unsure whether or not he had secured the locker. When the victim returned, he noticed the combination lock open and hanging on the locker.

An ID card and SmarTrip were found in the Washington College of Law cafeteria and placed on a desk in a manager’s office. When the owner came to claim them, the cards could not be located. The office is left unlocked on a regular basis.

Credit cards were taken from an unsecured locker in the Sports Center. Fraudulent charges were made at off-campus locations. The complainant was advised to contact police in the jurisdiction where the charges were initiated.

Oct. 22 A bicycle was taken from a bike rack outside the Ward Circle Building. The bike had been secured to the rack with a lock.

MPD contacted DPS in reference to an outstanding warrant for a student. The student came to DPS, was allowed to place a call to a guardian and was transported to the 2nd District Police Station.

A resident director reported a smell resembling marijuana emanating from an Anderson Hall room. After walking through the room, the RD indicated no one was in the room and there was no evidence of marijuana usage in the room. The RD secured the door.

A hot water pipe broke in a 7th floor women’s restroom in Leonard Hall. Water poured down from the ceiling in the lobby area by the main entrance doors. Facilities Management and Aramark were notified.

A bicycle was taken from a bike rack outside MGC. The bike had been secured to the rack with a chain/combination lock.

An individual with no known university affiliation was found sleeping on a bench outside the upper level of the Centennial Garage. The individual was barred and escorted from campus.

Oct. 23 A wallet was stolen while the victim was in the library. The victim was later notified that her debit card was used fraudulently.

A bicycle was taken from a bike rack outside MGC. The bike had been secured with a cable lock.

DPS responded to a report of an injured student inside MGC. The student signed a medical refusal form. A friend indicated he would transport the student to a hospital.

DPS responded to a report of a highly intoxicated individual outside the McKinley Building. The individual, a student, was slightly coherent and on the ground vomiting. EMS transported the individual to a hospital.

Oct. 24 An unidentified suspect entered an Anderson room. When a resident of the room asked what the suspect was doing, the suspect began asking questions about a fraternity. The suspect stated he had to leave and left the room.

DPS responded to a report of smoke in Anderson and discovered two fire extinguishers had been discharged. No smoke or fire was discovered. A damaged ceiling tile was discovered.

A bicycle was taken from a lounge inside the McDowell Hall Lounge. The bike had been secured to a couch with a combination lock and chain. The lock and chain were still in the lounge area.

Oct. 25 A fire extinguisher was discharged in a Leonard hallway. A smoke detector activated the fire alarm. The building was evacuated. No evidence of smoke or fire was found. Aramark and Facilities Management were notified.

Two laptop computers were taken from the room of two residents in Capitol Hall. The residents do not remember if they locked their door upon leaving the room. When they returned, the door was locked. There was no personal information on either computer. Both students indicated they will be contacting MPD to file a report.

Oct. 26 Food was burnt in an Anderson microwave creating a large amount of smoke. No damage was reported. DCFD and MPD were not notified.

A bicycle was taken from the Letts/Anderson Quad. The bike had been secured with a cable lock. The cable lock was cut.

An individual was barred from the library for being belligerent with staff members when they did not comply with her requests.

Oct. 27 A laptop, keys and an AUID were taken from a personal vehicle while at a location off campus.

A bicycle was taken from outside Hurst Hall. The bike had been secured to a bar with a cable lock.

A purse was left unattended in a Hughes Hall hallway for approximately three hours. The next morning, an iPod and money were discovered missing from it.

Facilities Management and DCFD responded to McDowell and freed an individual from a stuck elevator. No injuries were reported.

A tire was taken from a bicycle outside Federal Hall. The bicycle was secured to a bike rack.

A bicycle was taken from a bike rack in the Katzen Art Center Garage. The bike had been secured with cable lock.

A 20-year-old female student was walking when a male suspect approached from behind, grabbed her buttock and then grabbed her arm. The victim screamed. The suspect said, “I love you.” The victim walked toward the Tenley Campus. The suspect walked south on Wisconsin Avenue. AU DPS and MPD responded. MPD made contact with a suspect. MPD apprehended a suspect for assaulting another female in a similar manner on Wisconsin Avenue. That assault occurred during the time the first incident was being investigated.
