Women's Resource Center opens on time

Correction Appended

The Women's Resource Center opened as planned on Monday morning.

Women's Initiative Director Quinn Pregliasco said the center would be open for student use 20 hours per week.

WRC Coordinator Vanessa Molina was the only staff member hired for the office as of Monday. Interviews for two work-study positions are currently in progress, according to Pregliasco.

The office includes two computers, a work space and a resource library. All books in the library have been donated, and more literature will come in once it has been catalogued, according to Pregliasco.

Molina will assess what the center's library needs to be fully stocked once all materials are in, Pregliasco said.

Adjacent to the WRC is a Community Lounge that is not yet functional. The lounge will be shared by identity organizations such as the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender & Ally Center on the second floor of the Mary Graydon Center.

Furniture for the lounge will be in and ready for use in the next couple weeks, according to Director of the GLBTA Resource Center Sara Bendoraitis.

Correction: Quinn Pregliasco was originally identified as the Co-Director of Women's Initiative. Pregliasco is actually the Director of Women's Initiative. The Eagle regrets this mistake.
