Oct. 21

An elevator technician responded to and released two individuals stuck in an elevator in the School of International Service building. No injuries were reported.

Oct. 23

Public Safety responded to a report of an injured person inside Letts Hall and found student #1 unconscious in his bed with a large amount of vomit. Student #2 reported he returned to his room and found student #1 in bed and could not wake him. Student #3 reported he was aware student #1 was drinking in an unspecified room in Letts Hall. The D.C. Fire Department transported student #1, accompanied by student #3, to a local hospital. A resident director was on the scene.

A resident assistant saw two suspects near a vending machine in Capital Hall. He did not recognize the suspects. The resident assistant continued to his destination. Upon his return to the area, the resident assistant noticed the suspects had left, and the vending machine door was open. Snacks were still in the machine. 73 cents was on the floor near the machine. The coin container was still intact. The area of the machine that appeared to house the container for dollar bills was missing. It appeared a pry tool was used to open the machine. Public Safety took custody of the coin container and snacks.

Public Safety responded to a fire alarm inside the Watkins Building and evacuated the area. No signs of smoke or fire were found. The alarm panel indicated the activation occurred in a kitchen area. Public Safety detected the odor of a candle and found a candlestick in the kitchen sink. Public Safety doused the candle with water and disposed of it. A student said the alarm activated when he lit a candle to celebrate his birthday.

Two iPods were taken from the Katzen Art Center during an event. They had been secured with a lanyard locking device.

Public Safety and DCFD responded to a report of two injured people in Letts Hall. DCFD transported one to a local hospital. The other signed a medical refusal form.

Oct. 24

Public Safety responded to a room inside Letts Hall for a suspected drug violation. The test results on the substance were negative.

Public Safety responded to assist the Metropolitan Police Department with a noise complaint on Reno Road at approximately 2:05 a.m. MPD said a neighbor complained about noise from a party. MPD requested Public Safety assistance with identifying AU students. MPD reported having made contact with two individuals. One individual was identified as a student. The second individual refused to identify himself. The second individual was later identified as an AU student.

DCFD and Public Safety responded to a report of an injured person in Bender Arena. The individual signed a medical refusal form.

Oct. 25

DCFD, Facilities Management and Public Safety responded to a report of an individual stuck in an elevator in the new SIS building. DCFD released the individual.

Public Safety responded to a report of a sick/injured person inside Letts Hall. A cab transported the injured person to a local hospital by means of a voucher.

A student reported leaving his AU ID in a restroom in the Mary Graydon Center. A short time later he noticed it was missing. No fraudulent charges appeared on the account.

A hole was discovered in a wall in MGC. A 2Fix ticket was initiated to have it repaired.

Oct. 26

DCFD transported a sick person from inside Hurst Hall to a local hospital.

Several witnesses reported an individual with no known AU affiliation in the Washington College of Law library speaking to himself. Library staff requested the individual be barred from the library because his actions were disruptive. The individual was gone when Public Safety arrived. Public Safety has initiated the process to bar the individual.

A backpack containing a laptop computer was inadvertently left unattended on a basketball court in Bender Arena. It was gone when the owner returned to retrieve it. The computer did not contain personal information.

DCFD, MPD and Public Safety responded to a report of a sick person inside McDowell Hall. MPD transported the individual to a local hospital.

Oct. 27

Public Safety responded to a report of an injured person in the Butler Pavilion Tunnel Area. Public Safety escorted the individual to the health center, where she signed a medical refusal form.

A bicycle was taken from a bike rack at Roper Hall. The bike had been secured with a cable/combination lock.

A resident assistant in Federal Hall knocked on a room door while conducting an annual health and safety check. When a student opened the door, a strong odor of marijuana was detected. The student gave the resident assistant a container with a green leafy residue and stated he had marijuana. Public Safety took custody of the container. It tested positive for marijuana.

An unattended laptop computer and cell phone were taken from a desk in Bender Library. No personal information was on the computer.

A bicycle was taken from a bike rack at Roper Hall. The bike had been secured with a cable lock. The lock was found cut.
