New bar opens in Tenleytown

Public tenley 4615 41st St. NW | 202-237-1783 | Weekends: 11 a.m. - 2:30 a.m.

Public tenley, a new bar on 41st Street next to the Dancing Crab, opened April 1.

The restaurant and sports bar is the sister location to Dupont Circle’s Public bar on 18th Street and offers food, a variety of alcoholic beverages, games and nighttime entertainment for its patrons.

General Manager Sean D’Augostine said the location has “a smorgasbord of liquor” and 10 beers on tap. Drink prices usually range from $5 to $10, but are $2 to $5 during happy hour, according to D’Augostine.

Public tenley serves traditional American food with a twist, including appetizers, burgers, wings, sandwiches, wraps and salads from $5 to $12, according to the bar’s website.

The venue will introduce an expanded menu in May that will include more expensive items such as pizza, steak, entrees and a wider selection of appetizers and salads, D’Augostine said.

The restaurant and bar has two floors, both equipped with bars and outdoor patios. The first floor is primarily a restaurant, while upstairs is a sports bar that is limited to patrons over 21 years old after 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

D’Augostine said Public tenley has something for college students, young urban professionals and families alike.

It’s still a work in progress, but D’Augostine said the response has been positive so far.

“We’re hoping to get a little bit better once summer comes around, as we can open up the front patio,” he said.

Public tenley, located at 4615 41 St. NW, opens at 11 a.m. for lunch and closes at 1:30 a.m. on weekdays and 2:30 a.m. on weekends.

Section 202 hosts Connor Sturniolo and Gabrielle McNamee are joined by fellow Eagle staff member and phenomenal sports photographer, Josh Markowitz. Follow along as they discuss the United Football League and the benefits it provides for the world of professional football.
