Police blotter: April 26

April 15

A resident assistant saw two students climbing up an exterior wall of McDowell Hall at 1:20 a.m. One claimed he had thrown the other’s identification up onto an exterior window ledge and was assisting the other in retrieving it. When the resident assistant asked for their ID, the students walked away calling him names. The resident assistant easily detected the smell of alcoholic beverages on both individuals.

The D.C. Fire Department transported a sick person to the hospital from Eagle’s Nest at 9:01 a.m.

A contractor responded and freed an individual from a stuck elevator in Hughes Hall at 2:29 p.m. No injuries were reported.

A student flagged an officer on routine patrol and reported an injury outside of the School of International Service building at 3:33 p.m. The individual signed a medical refusal form.

DCFD transported a sick/injured person to the hospital from McDowell Hall at 3:42 p.m.

DCFD responded and freed two individuals from a stuck elevator in Letts Hall at 11:22 p.m. No injuries were reported.

April 16

A resident assistant reported discovering the following damage: A sign was ripped from an elevator in Capital Hall at 2:45 a.m., a bulletin board was ripped from a wall on the fourth floor, a hole was punched into the northwest stairwell wall leading to an auditorium. The Department of Public Safety notified Facilities Management.

Public Safety received an anonymous complaint of residents making noise and dumping trash onto the complainant’s driveway off campus at 3:26 p.m. Upon arrival, Public Safety saw a big pile of trash on the complainant’s driveway. Metropolitan Police Department officers advised a resident to turn down the noise and remove the trash. The resident complied.

A resident assistant heard a noise outside his room in Letts Hall at 11:42 p.m. When he went to investigate, he noticed an odor of something burning. He saw a burn pattern on a bulletin board adjacent to his room. Ashes were on the floor below. DCFD and a fire investigator responded. Reportedly, damage was limited to a paper flyer, which had been attached to the bulletin board.

A neighbor called Public Safety and reported several individuals were occupying a residence off campus at 11:47 p.m. The caller advised police had responded to the residence at approximately 3:26 p.m. for a noise violation and for debris having been thrown in a neighbor’s yard. The caller stated there was no noise currently emanating from the residence but stated several individuals still occupied the residence. Public Safety responded and confirmed no noise was emanating from the residence.

April 17

DCFD transported a sick person to Sibley Hospital from McDowell Hall at 12:53 a.m.

At approximately 3:19 a.m., Public Safety observed student #1 stumbling and vomiting north of the Letts/Anderson Quad. Student #2 was assisting student #1. When student #2 let go of student #1’s arm, student #1 fell in some bushes. Student #2 stated she and student #1 had been to a bar near Dupont Circle from 11:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Neither student #1 nor student #2 could provide the type or quantity of alcohol consumed by student #1. DCFD transported student #1, accompanied by student #2, to the hospital.

Reportedly, student #1 was sleeping in her room in Anderson Hall. At approximately 3:35 a.m., she woke up when a shower loofah struck her in the chest. She was not injured. Student #2 (student #1’s roommate) and an unidentified male (reportedly a guest of student #2) immediately left the room. At approximately 2:00 a.m., Public Safety and a resident assistant spoke with student #2. Student #2 identified the male only as a resident student. Reportedly, the roommates have had previous issues.

A BlackBerry phone was taken from the Mary Graydon Center at 8:59 p.m. It had been left unattended near a cashier box located in the main entrance of the Terrace Dining Room.

A witness discovered graffiti on a wall in Anderson Hall and reported it to a resident assistant at 11:18 p.m. Aramark was contacted to have it removed.

April 18

DCFD transported a sick person to the hospital from MGC at 5:12 p.m.

DPS responded to a report of an injured person on the track at 6:16 p.m. The individual signed a medical refusal form.

April 19

DCFD transported an injured person to the hospital from the Kogod School of Business at 9:57 a.m.

A driver’s side window of a parked vehicle was broken and a university laptop computer was taken from the vehicle off campus at 1:45 p.m. No sensitive information was stored on the computer.

April 20

A contractor responded and freed an individual from a stuck elevator in the School of International Service building at 10:21 a.m. No injuries were reported.

A wallet was taken from a backpack that had been left unattended in an unsecured office in the SIS building at 4:09 p.m. Fraudulent charges were made using bank cards, which were in the wallet.

A visitor observed an unidentified individual sitting in her parked vehicle in the Katzen Arts Center parking garage at 4:02 p.m. The individual left the area. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle.

A complainant (a student) reported several items, including a driver’s license, passport, jewelry and tax documents, were taken from her home off campus at 8:51 p.m. MPD was contacted.

Property, including a cell phone was taken from a secured locker in the Sports Center at 11:49 p.m.
