AU ranks first for internships in nationwide report

U.S. News and World Report ranked AU first in the nation for highest percentage of students who graduate with internship experience.

Over 85 percent of AU seniors, or about 1,515 students, interned before graduation in May 2010, according to the report.

The report was released Sept. 27 for the 2009-2010 academic year.

This rankings report was compiled of 416 schools who self-reported data. Most schools averaged 38 percent of students graduating with internship experience. Of national universities, the average percentage of seniors who interned before graduation was 30 percent.

Ranked second and third were Colorado School of Mines and Dartmouth College with 81 and 72 percent of students interning before graduation.

George Washington University was ranked fifth with 66 percent of students graduating with internship experience.
