Eagle Rants Feb. 1

•I miss my dog, she misses me. Help...

•That awkward moment in Spanish class when your teacher is clarifying instructions (in spanish) and one of your classmates stands up and begins reading them thinking he was asked to read them aloud. We've all been there. Spanish miscommunications.

•Dear Eagle reporter who wrote about DG and the goldfish abandoning act of Spring Recruitment 2012. THANK YOU. You are literally the best person ever in my mind right now, and I am so happy this story was reported on after being discussed in eagle rants. Best. Story. Ever.

•i'm emotionally hungover.

•Look, I'm fine with you participating in the BDSM community on your own time and using your own money. I don't really care about your sexual preferences, to be frank. But don't use my hard-earned money to advertise it. Queers and Allies gets away with everything at this university.

•So apparently AU Dems are trying to get people to come to see a speaker tonight by offering free pizza... what they don't know is that dc pizza sucks ****

•That awkward moment when you finally start thinking you should dissafiliate and you realize even your best friends in the sorority agree that you should. Just do it blondie, please?

•@BDSM person: I am a closet BDSM person. Where do I meet others like me to get, as you say, educated?

•@Founders Day Dresscode: I went last Spring when it was held at the Corcoran Gallery and most of my friends wore cocktail length dresses but there were other girls who wore floor lengths dresses ala Senior Prom. It's really up to you but don't go crazy worrying about what to wear...it's a pretty chill event.

•I'm studying abroad and I miss TDR brunch! Why can't Spain have scones...

•Wow...all of last semester I thought Chi Alpha was a frat. Now I know it's actually a friggin awesome Christian campus ministry. Music rocks, people are chill. love it.

•This is why we can't have nice things

•Stop painting over the graffiti in the bathrooms please. Some people like to take our time and have something to read.

•I try to smile but I got a lot on my mind lately. I'd like to just force a smile, but I don't like to feign a smile. Sorry if my lack of a smile puts you off.

•Isn't it ironic that AU is a dry campus, yet RHA created a floor for substance free housing?

•Goldfish left in Hughes is newsworthy? Welcome to First World Problems U.

•Just dropped a Pop-Tart outside of EQB. Come and get it!

•To New Senator Admirer: I have a boyfriend.

•@•S & M 101 workshop by the D.C boys of leather?!? That must be a joke. I swear every day I become more and more embarrassed of this school. don't yuck someone else's yum. it's not easy to find good resources on exploring things outside the norm.

•Metro haiku. Respect

•@LDR folks who had a collective heart attack: You're right, LDR are very hard and cause a lot of emotional conflict. But you lot were taking over space that should have been used for complaining about more frivolous matters like an NHL channel. This isn't a support group, its a bunch of hormone-crazed sleep-deprived angry people.

•@Preach! Haha thanks, it's nice to hear someone else feels the same way about the buying of friends and exclusion of those. I spend a lot of time with sorority girls--from 3 of the separate sororities, so I'd say I have a pretty fair view--and all they talked about during recruitment was which "busted" and "fat" chicks they hated and made fun of. Shame on you, sorority life!!

•As a conservative, I wouldn't mind Ron Paul so much if it wasn't for his rabid supporters. I'm not talking about principled libertarians, but rather the people who bring the Fed into every policy debate and who you can't have a reasoned discussion with.

•There's this girl in my class and every time I read the Eagle I think she winks at me.

•The editor of the Eagle is so good! I love the Eagle! [Editor's note: Aww, thanks.]

•@"I'm quite upset with some of the derogatory things I've heard said about the BDSM community since the Queers & Allies S&M 101 was announced"-- Well said!

•I really wish I had a mom who gave a s*** about me. Like the moms I hear other people complaining about because they are too overprotective. At least your mom cares about you. My mom is a stay at home mom and doesn't care about parenting, just impressing other people with material items and status symbols. It makes me really insecure every day to not have that support. :(

•I love my boyfriend but I don't know if I can go a whole other year without him proposing. I'm scared he will start to get annoyed with me and move on to something better. But then again, I don't want to push him into proposing and then have the experience be less than magical. *sigh*

•Dear Eagle Ranter who is heartbroken about Tim McBride being in a relationship, me too. Meeee too. Sincerely, another Tim McBride admirer.

•I agree that women's initiative ignores the largest segment of women in society, mothers. Women's initiative sure does focus a lot on getting rid of babies via abortion, but not much on the life of mothers and babies who are born. I'm pro-choice and all, but for those women who make the choice to have babies, women's initiate should devote some programming to them. Like how about a screening of the film "Business of Being Born" about how birth is over-medicalized, and power is taken away from capable and smart women.

•It would be really awesome if there were some sort of water steam through campus that ended at the fountain on the south side of campus. It would make for many romantic walks between AU lovebirds.

•I agree that there should be a Men's Initiative. There are many issues facing men in today's society, such as higher unemployment rates than females, stigma against stay-at-home dads, the shame that often accompanies male infertility, etc. As a woman (and a feminist), I fully support the creation of a men's initiative (or at least a faction of women's initiative that devotes some time and programming to men's issues as well).

•So the recommended daily intake of water in the US is 3.7 liters a day. A typical water bottle is 500 milliliters (.5 liters). So that means I need to drink over 7 water bottles a day to get my daily recommended intake of water. WTF! Who the F drinks that much water?! I drink 3 glasses a juice a day (one with each meal), which amounts to less than .5 liters of water. Why is being healthy so hard?

•PS The British recommend 1.8 liters of water a day. Something is fishy here. I have a theory that the US soda companies (which own the bottled water companies) lobbied the US government to increase the daily water intake recommendations in order to increase water sales. There is no way in hell I am drinking over 7 water bottles a day.

•yes, we all saw you and your girlfriend go at it....on a thursday....in centennial.....while we were in anderson. next time close the blinds, however we did appreciate the wave

•Does anyone else think it was extremely selfish of Rick Santorum and his wife to bring into the world a baby who would only have a life of suffering? Trisomy 18 has been detectable via early prenatal genetic testing for years. And babies who suffer from it have a terrible quality of life, with most dying the first few days of life, only 8% surviving the first year of life, and only 1% living to the age of 10.

•(continued) Am I the only one who thinks it is incredibly selfish of mothers and fathers to not take advantage of readily available tests that they can afford in order to prevent such suffering? Especially at an advanced maternal age, where the parents know they are at risk of having a very sick baby?

•@person living next door to celebrity?: What celebrities go to AU? I think you are making stuff up.

•Any progress on the Eagle Rants app idea? [Editor's note: We're working on making a news app first.]

•Why am I so damn sexy?

•@FoundersDayQ's: It's formal, black-tie optional. So go classy, not club. Think fancy cocktail dress. Remember, tickets go up tomorrow at 8:00 pm!

•Can the IP address of specific Eagle ranters be discovered if the eagle editors so desire? jw [Editor's note: This editor has no idea. That's way out of our skill zone.]

•I had to sell my ADTR/Rise Against ticket. :(

•@ "LGB and not the T?" Could we just have AU without the U?

•people are offended way to easily. quit whining, theyre called rants for a reason

•Liz something-or-other said in The Eagle that the founders day ball would be more of a networking experience, than a dance. Can anyone substantiate this claim? I'd love to go if it's gonna be fun, but not if it's just a chance to suck up to alum

•AUTO VANS...worst

•Capstone Support Group ASAP. Its crushing my soul.

•why did I hear 2 dudes in the Bender bathroom complaining about TDR food as they were... going number 2?

•For the love of all that is pleasant, please, if you require and are in the vicinity of a tissue, use it.

•Dear semi-short extremely attractive guy who I once saw wear "the shins" shirt to the gym, You have a really nice body. Don't worry it's not like I watched you work out or anything.....Once I meet you I will make sure we listen to the shins all night long (wink wink)

•I'm having a dry spell.

•@S&M workshop hater: don't be so insensitive and angry over your own sexual repression

•My roommate sleeps with a bottle od Lysol?

•Okay, who was it that saw that couple in McDowell?

•My feet don't touch the ground when I sit on the AU Shuttle. HELP.

•I stole 10 spoons, 2 forks, and a bowl from TDR. I am the reason there is never any clean silverware.

•DANGER ZONE!

•my roommate thinks that she's a sloth...clearly she needs some medical attention.

•Social life? HAHAHAH

•Some people need to chill out and learn to have fun... in bed.

•I have the stupidest schedule ever. I have only morning classes AND evening classes with about 4-5 hours in between. This would be prime nap time if I didn't live off campus.

•I am positive that I look like a complete idiot in my french class but I really am trying! Wish older students wouldn't look down on me for attempting to learn something that they clearly have already mastered. Just graduate and gtfo already if you know so much!

•MY RANTS NEVER GET POSTED SO I'M JUST GONNA RANT ABOUT THAT. UGH SO ANNOYING. WHO PICKS THESE RANTS ANYWAY. [Editor's note: I do.]

•Hipster hotties, please leave Katzen sometimes. You're all too beautiful to hide yourselves from the rest of main campus. Yeah, I'm talking about you dude with the thick rimmed glasses and plaid shirts. I got my eye on you ;)

•My roommate and I both signed up for a double, so how did our room turn into a triple?

•New policy at AU for guys: Gay until proven straight.

•I never see my friends anymore because I'm working all day:(

•There's always money in the banana stand ;)

•I really wish people would use staplers!!!

•I've seen you at so many stepping stones of my AU college life: orientation, classes, AU abroad, and now we have the same job. I think the universe is telling us to be friends. Let's be friends okay?

•All of the new senators in SG never ran for a senate position before and running for one of these positions shouldn't be a popularity contest.

•Special thanks to Undergrad Senator of the School of Communications for informing me and my table of S&M 101 tonight in the Tavern!

•Just out of curiosity, how many grad students read Eagle Rants? Show of hands?

•only the AU community can go to the Founders Day Ball.... thank you AUSG for helping us to remain isolated from the attractive members of the opposite sex that are located in the greater DC area.

•I wish Panera Bread took Eagle Bucks. AU, GET ON THAT!!

•To all the girls who want babies: I'm a guy and I love babies! Find me! [desperation]pease?[/desperation]

•Sometimes I think I'm gay in most ways except sexual orientation.

•I can't stop getting mad at my bf at the fact that it has been 4 years and he hasn't proposed yet. We get along great except for this issue. I'm 24. He is 28. It's not an issue of money. And we both love each other. He just says he isn't ready to be married and/or doesn't ever want to get married and why I can't I be content just being his girlfriend or eventually having kids without being married.

•(continued) I feel so hurt and un-valued. Should I just shut up and hope he comes around one day? Or should I stop letting his life plan be the one we go by and leave him until he is ready to be mature and step up and commit. So confused. Help?

•I am a fellow homosexual and I can not be more ashamed of having that in common with you. You are the typical stereotype of gay but will all the negative aspects this includes! People like you give us a bad day and it drives me insane to have to see you on a daily basis. Wishing you'd drop out any day soon

•Lol to the guy who walked out of the library at 8am on Wednesday. You didn't even try to hide that boner severely tenting your basketball shorts. Books make you hot, eh?

•One time, I was changing in my room at night and I forgot to close the blinds, but I figured no one was looking / could even see me. But at one point I noticed 2 freshman boys looking up into my window. When they saw me notice them, they ran away. Is it weird to admit it made me feel good about myself? I'll never do it again, but it just felt good :o

Rant here!
