•PLEASE stop looking over at me in class. It's weird.
•To all the SIS students who love talking about how travel changed their perceptions, you really need to learn that traveling is not objectively valuable. It is only valuable to the extent that you allow the experience to spur self-reflection and change your BEHAVIOR, instead of stretching the word perception into vague meaninglessness. No matter how much you say that traveling made you 'realize how lucky we are in America,' try using experiences to better yourself in real ways instead of using them to show how insightful your international exposure made you.
•the people who want to start the "bullying club" should probably change the name because right now it sounds like a group that wants to get together and bully
•I shall not cause harm to any vehicle nor the personal contents thereof, nor through inaction let the personal contents thereof come to harm
•A man does not want credit for his work. He takes pride in a job done well.
•SO EXCITED FOR JON HUNTSMAN OH MY GOSH
•It must be a joke, but there is a tour group filled with only hipsters walking around campus. I am unsure what this says about the 2016 class.... maybe a Dav expansion?
•This weather is heinous...where did spring go? :(
•you confuse me
•Why are people so gullible? You may it too easy to mess with
•@Bullying Club - Okay, Tuesday @6 in the Mudbox :) Anyone else interested please join us!
•@"You get multiple orgasms" - Actually males can get this with lots of practice and kegel exercises :) But men do have it hard. Custody battles are usually biased against the father. Women don't have to sign up for selective service. Men are the disposable gender in many ways.
•@Why is so hard to be a women? TRUTH. I'm super psyched to be a female scientist and rake in the job offers.
•@grandfather ranters: I know just what you both mean. Both my abuelos on my father's side passed away on nearly the same day a year apart, and it has been extra hard since they basically kept everyone in order and dispensed wisdom in the perfect ways. I miss them every single day, and I keep their picture with me to keep me strong. You stay strong too, and be as supportive for your parents as you can.
•You think you're so clever and witty. Let me be the first to tell you you're not. You're just stupid. Really stupid.
•as someone who had been a victim of sexual assault on AUs campus, this school makes things extremely hard to report these kinds of crimes and we need to advocate more for womens rights
•@girl trying to win back her ex: Give him lots of compliments (sincere but still abundant). And yes, definitely remind of of good times and favorite memories between the two of you. Maybe also take him to a romantic dinner.
•@girl trying to win back her ex: Give him lots of compliments (sincere but still abundant). And yes, definitely remind of of good times and favorite memories between the two of you. Maybe also take him to a romantic dinner.
•@“Wouldn't you rather have a fun time at a smart school with good people than go to a top ranked university? I know I would.” The smartest students go to the highest ranked schools. And then it trickles down from there. And rankings definitely matter when it comes to the job market. So ya I would rather go to a highly ranked school than a school with cool frat boys.
•@”I don't live near tenleytown and that public library out of the way.” Lol not sure if you’re aware, but there is a shuttle that picks up students on campus in two different locations every 10 minutes and takes them to the tenleytown metro/library area. Not that complicated. Are you too lazy to go to the grocery store by the tenleytown metro too? I fear for your basic lack of living skills.
•So now that facebook bought instagram, where will instagrams cool filters be integrating into facebook photo album options?
•@advice for winning back you ex: Take him on a romantic walk by the monuments. When you are around such profound reminders of war and death, little things like being mad over cheating seem trivial. And reminders of death make true love seem that much more important. Remind him that love is all that truly matters in lofe and you do love him with all your heart.
•@”AU is frequently rated higher and lower than that, and it all depends on the criteria for which those who made the rankings list made it.” On what colleges rankings list does AU rank highly on?
•@”That awkward moment when all your roommate does is go on facebook and get wasted... how are you not failing out?!” She must be a communication major.
•"The MudBox has the worst coffee on campus." Clearly you have never had their chai lattes
•Who can say if I've been changed for the better? But because I knew you I have been changed for good. And just to clear the air I ask forgiveness for the things I've done you blame me for
•Finishing this research paper for my senior capstone is like pulling teeth..9 more days to go.
•To person who made the 'special circle in hell rant', you made me laugh really hard. it's so so true. it's not like I'm going to hack into your email account, i just need to print!
•@"why is it so hard to be a woman" those are false positives and not real privileges. "not paying for anything on a date" leads to men thinking that I owe them my body for the meal. The "choice" to have sex is a two way street that often gets ignored on our end. Only in the last couple decades has maternity leave become a legal option. Multiple orgasms are pretty great though.
•Yes, abortion rights are an important issue. But they aren’t the defining issue of feminism. And they should not be the primary issue that is getting al the attention of women’s initiative (that and the whole date rape thing). What about the fact that not all states in the US recognize a woman’s right to pump breast milk at work? This is an extremely important issue for mothers and babies. National legislation could fix this so that women are not harassed or bullied into not being able to provide their babies with healthy breast milk.
•I agree that women’s initiative ignores mothering issues (the most important female issues, seeing as how most women will have kids someday. And most women will never have to deal with abortions.
•I'm sorry you had to transfer for financial reasons. But you don't need to blame AU for not letting you attend college for free. AU costs the same amount of money as other private schools. Tuition inflation is not caused by AU. AU is a wonderful school. But I wish you the best wherever you end up.
•I love whoever is ranting lyrics to Wicked.. gets a great song in my head for the rest of the day :)
•I log out of the library quickprint computers every time, I just get nervous about strangers being able to access my account or whatever I just downloaded. I never realized I was such a heathen.
•Queen of the Quad was weak today yo
•I just want to be self-confident enough to lay on the quad in a bikini like all the other girls. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK WORLD?!
•"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" -Kanye West
•We're one and the same dear, you were born for this. Forever forget your restraint. Remnants of a past here Pass like light through dust as memories Fall fleeting like pain. If you show me heaven I will meet you there.
•okay, who is queen of the quad?
•@"Hello, I am a happy liberal sandwich maker for nice men! I want to be a housewife after college! DEAL WITH IT." I don't understand why you would pay to go to one of the most expensive schools in the country if all you want to do is be a housewife.
•DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN GRADUATION SPEAKERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED?!?!
•I need to control my feelings. I've kept them in check for almost the entire school year, and I can't let them affect me now. I have faith that being a person of character will work out positively in the end for everyone involved. It's not easy, but I guess if it was then everyone would do it.
•Here's my opinion as a man on abortion: At some point before birth, the fetus is alive. We know this because there are children alive today that were the product of botched late term abortions. A fetus can't be human the day its born, but not the day before. Wherever that human/not line is scientifically, there needs to be at least some buffer (say a week or two) to be safe. Abortion should be considered murder post that line/buffer, but if the women in question is in danger from complications, exceptions should be made (self defense basically). Prior to that it should be legal. End of story.
•@"You're basically arguing that no asset can be undervalued in the long run, which is true if you assume that people have perfect information about the value of that asset. In this case, they do not, because the value of labor is usually quite difficult to quantify". If this were true, then you're effectively saying that female business owners, CEO's, and other female job creators have, are, and will continue to in perpetuity undervalue their female employees. Also, the jobs where human labor is easy to quantify/value (I.E. factory work, math/statistics, and finance jobs) are jobs that men prefer to work in. Why would we prefer to forgo our advantage?
•Can Women’s Initiative please do a panel on epidurals and other methods of giving birth? I think we have had enough panels and speakers on abortion. Most of us AU women will be giving birth in the near future. Not many of us will be having abortions. Not that abortion education isn’t important, but there are better ways to spend our tuition resources.
•@fetish rants: I also get turned on by hula hoops.
•I despise having to deal with your petty drama from hundreds of miles away. I don't go to school with you any longer and you really need to just move on with your life. #hateconstantcommunicationattimes.
•Yes, I'm avoiding you and I have every reason to...but why are you avoiding me?
•I have a radical thought: if you don't like the way Women's Initiative is run, or if you think they are neglecting an issue you care about, why don't you JOIN THEM AND WORK TO FIX IT. They are generally nice people who are interested in having lots of different people join (men, that means you too). I am so effing tired of reading rants about how WI doesn't talk about abstinence, or doesn't address X, Y, Z, thing. You want them to address it? Join them and then ADDRESS IT.
•Senator Slatko makes me swoon. Right those bills, boy!
•i reeally hope this wasn't about me
•Rail-fanning for the win!!!
•My friend gets different guys to eat her out each weekend and then does nothing in return to them. She thinks this makes her less of a slut, but I think it is cruel to lead guys on like this only to end up insulting them and hurting their feelings at then end of the night. I told her to just get a vibrator, but she doesn’t think that what she is doing is wrong? Who is right? Does eating a girl out not initiative an implied contract that he will receive sexual favors in return?
•Stop calling me every night to talk about your nonexistent boyfriend issues for hours on end. Get a therapist and leave me alone.
•I don’t really get the whole Jewish thing.
•Editor needs to get a facebook like page, so we can all “like” her. We love you, Editor! [Editor's note: Aww thanks!]
•Saw my most recent hookup soberly for the first time today. He was so much shorter than I remembered. #AUproblems
•You know you’re in law school when you stalk up on nicotine patches in order to boost memory for finals week.
•Tell me that you miss me!
•PEGGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (marge)
•@AU needs to work on filling McDonald's space. 1. They're working on it. It just has to be approved by 18 million people first 2. You should probably learn how to function in large groups of people. It's a pretty crucial life skill
•Why do you put the eagle rants up in the morning and today decide not to do that? I thought better of you Rant's Editor. [Editor's note: This editor's schedule isn't the same every day. Sometimes she has morning classes, sometimes she doesn't.]
•I struggle with anxiety so badly. I wake up every day with a nervous, anxious feeling in my stomach. Does anyone else have this? What can I do? I can't focus on anything else but it and it's affecting my schoolwork and eating habits
•Ok...why are there goats on the quad?
•When I smelled that odd odor on the quad today, I thought it was Occupy AU staging a protest. Turns out it was a bunch of goats...Go figure.
•why the hell do off-campus students have to pay $25 to post saying that they are looking for a roommate under H&D's new system? last semester it was free, and for good reason. FORUMS ARE FREE TO CREATE AND MAINTAIN. AU administration: you are shameless in exploiting your students.
•Hey AU, I love that we have amazing speakers but PLEASE GIVE ME MORE NOTICE. Ex: David Brooks, Dan Savage, Morton Subotnik...I could go on. I will attend every one of these! I NEED MORE THAN ONE DAY TO PREPARE! Fuuuuuuuuu -An interested student
•Let's be real. I was not excited for Gym Class Heroes and I am not excited for Matisyahu. But I AM EXCITED TO SEE DAN DEACON! yeeeeeeee. WVAU wins!
•Since the United States of America is such a bad place in Conor Shapiro's mind, I vote for his expulsion from the country. Maybe he would prefer North Korea to saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
•Is it that hard to be a woman in the US? Honestly, in the US women have it good. You make 50 cents on every dollar a man makes when you divorce him, you get the kids plus child support, and the house(s). If you want equality change divorce laws and preferential treatment in general (ie free drinks from men). Then we will talk. -Men
•Has anyone made the connection between our shop in the tunnel and Hitler? Google "Eagle's Nest" sometime.
•1) EagleRants seems like a great place to discuss abortion... 2) For all the females complaining about income inequality: we make more because if we ask to split the check you ditch us. Shut up. 3) Also towards females who complain about guys making a move: we can't read minds. Suck it up and do it yourself. Peace, Love, Brownies, and Ando3N.
•Skipped all of my classes in order to see the space shuttle Discovery fly over the National Mall for a total of about 10 minutes. Completely worth it.
•It's 1:55 n April 17th. Where is my rants pleaz? [Editor's note: here.]
•Ok I think that the space shuttle flying over DC is cool. On Facebook people are posting pictures...also cool. One person commented "RIP NASA funding". To that I say RIP Health care funding, RIP Education Funding, RIP International Aid...there are more immediate issues than exploring space. Starvation, AIDS, and climate change (to name a few). -__-
•I didn't think I had an eagle rant addiction... until today.
•April 17 rants are taking forever to be put up... what the heck?!
•It's 2:45. Where my rants fool?
Rant here!
