Kevin Nelson returned to TDR after Bon Appétit rehired him Nov. 2.
Bon Appétit previously fired Nelson in October, The Eagle previously reported.
Bon Appétit ended rehirement negotiations last Friday with Nelson and his union representatives, according to Ethan Miller, a member of the Student-Worker Alliance and a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences. Miller worked with Nelson’s union representatives to help rehire Nelson.
Bon Appétit faced student and worker pressure to rehire Nelson after approximately 15 students and 20 workers approached Bon Appétit and AU Housing and Dining Offices demanding he be rehired, Miller said.
Miller said the amount of support from students and workers as well as the multiple comment cards at TDR took Bon Appétit by surprise.
“Bon Appétit was scared,” he said.
Bon Appétit paid Nelson for his time off as part of negotiations with his union representatives, Miller said.
Bon Appétit and Nelson’s union representative did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
