Men’s soccer defeats Holy Cross to finish PL regular-season play undefeated

With men's soccer's win over Holy Cross, the Eagles (10-5-2, 5-0-2 PL) finish conference play unbeaten for the first time in school history. The victory also marks the first time AU has defeated the Crusaders (5-9-2, 2-3-2 PL) since 2008.

AU ended the regular season on a high note when Stephen Hauschild scored the game-winning goal with 24 seconds remaining to propel the Eagles to a 1-0 victory over Holy Cross Nov. 3.

“It wasn’t a great game for us today,” AU head coach Todd West said. “But our guys found a way to win.”

As a scramble ensued in front of the Holy Cross net, Hauschild found the loose ball and put it in the back left corner of the net for the game winner.

Most of the game was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams having opportunities to score throughout but failing to capitalize.

Before the game, AU honored Adem Gokturk, Seth Goldman, Alassane Kane and Ryan Morales as part of a pregame Senior Day ceremony.

“It was a little emotional,” Goldman said of his final regular-season game at Reeves Field.

The top-seeded Eagles will host the Patriot League Tournament and will take on fourth-seeded Bucknell Nov. 9 at 11 a.m.
