President Barack Obama’s former speechwriter Jon Favreau will speak at AU on Nov. 6.
The event, sponsored by The Kennedy Political Union, will take place in the MGC University Club at 8:15 p.m.
Favreau, a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, majored in political science and sociology before graduating in 2003.
Favreau first began working for President Obama in 2005 after meeting the then-senator at the Democratic National Convention.
Favreau continued to work with Obama during his first term in office. However, he has recently made the switch to television, a goal he has had since he first began working with the president, according to The Independent.
Despite the shift in career path, KPU Director Chandler Thornton said he believes Favreau will bring an interesting inside perspective to AU.
“We have the opportunity to hear directly from the man who was personally responsible for crafting the speeches delivered by President Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign and during his first term in the White House,” Thornton said.
