Social fraternities and sororities are not for everyone. Consider rushing for one of AU’s professional greek organizations to find your new home away from home.
Alpha Phi Omega: national service fraternity
Alpha Phi Omega’s main goal is to encourage leadership, friendship and service. There are approximately 125 members in AU’s co-ed chapter, according to Carly Messinger, a senior in the School of International Service and former president of APO.
“I got a fantastic internship through an alumna looking to hire APO people, and I know other brothers have gotten the same,” Messinger said in an email.
Interested students can find more information about the fraternity and rush week events on the fraternity’s Facebook page.
Phi Alpha Delta: pre-law fraternity
Phi Alpha Delta welcomes male and female students interested in the law to rush, regardless of their major.
This co-ed fraternity provides its members access to LSAT prep courses, guest speakers, internship opportunities and connections with law schools that brothers may be interested in attending.
“Our goal is to help our members be prepared for both a professional career and law school,” Jenna Bouley, a sophomore in the School of Public Affairs and president of Phi Alpha Delta, said in an email.
Phi Alpha Delta is having an information session for interested students on Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the Anderson Conference Room.
Delta Phi Epsilon: foreign service fraternity and sorority
The foreign service sorority and fraternity are both known as Delta Phi Epsilon, but are split into two separate chapters.
By hosting foreign service-related events on campus, Delta Phi Epsilon offers its members networking and development opportunities.
“The skills and connections you make through DPE will benefit you long after graduation,” Jenny Sue Ross, School of International Service senior and DPE president, said in an email.
