The 10 most anticipated albums of 2014

If 2013 was any indication of what the future of music will look like, we’re in pretty good shape. With groundbreaking artists escaping pre-existing musical shells, an infinite amount of sub-genres have been created to suit even the pickiest listener. Here are some exciting albums to look for:

10. Mac DeMarco “Salad Days”
Our favorite Canadian singer plans on releasing his sophomore album by Apri. There are rumors of collaboration with Tyler, the Creator.

9. tUnE-yArDs “Sink-o”
The genre-bending project of Merrill Garbus is supposedly set to release a follow-up to 2011’s “whokill.”

8. Fleet Foxes – N/A
After a noticeable absence from the music community, Fleet Foxes began posting cryptic messages on their Facebook page that seem to insinuate a new album in the works.

7. Titus Andronicus – N/A
Frontman Patrick Stickles has described the format of the anticipated album as a 30-song rock opera accompanied by related film material.

6. Belle and Sebastian – N/A
Nine studio LPs later, the Scottish sweethearts are still churning out beautiful music. Frontman Stuart Murdoch also recently premiered his B&S-themed musical “God Help the Girl” at Sundance Film Festival.

5. Azealia Banks “Broke With Expensive Taste”
Azealia Banks has been in the spotlight for a while, so it’s easy to forget that she has never released an album. “Broke With Expensive Taste” is a project several years in the making, but will hopefully be released by this summer.

4. Grimes – N/A
Claire Boucher said that she was working on an album, but it’s impossible to know if the mysterious fairy queen will be releasing it this year.

3. Broken Bells “After the Disco”
The lovechild of The Shins’ James Mercer and producer Danger Mouse (Brian Burton), Broken Bells’ first self-titled album fared well with critics and fans alike.

2. Kendrick Lamar – N/A
With the hype still not quite died down from 2012’s “good kid, m.A.A.d City,” the controversial emcee is supposedly releasing his next project sometime in the next year.

1. Pharrell -N/A
After an action packed year full of features, a 24-hour music video and a Grammy, it’s only fair that the age-defying producer will release a long-awaited follow-up album to 2006’s “In My Mind” after signing with Columbia Records.
