AU students to open for Chance the Rapper

Correction appended

Three AU students will open for Chance the Rapper’s performance at AU on April 10.

Cameron Kaminski, a sophomore in the Kogod School of Business, will perform as his on-stage name Lyrx after DJ duo Divided by Zero, which is comprised of sophomore Jon Nelson and freshman Kevin Capasso (both in the Kogod School of Business), according to a March 20 press release from the Student Union Board (SUB) and WVAU.

SUB and WVAU announced their collaboration to bring Chance the Rapper on on March 6, The Eagle previously reported.

About the artists
Kaminski is originally from Bainbridge Island, Wash. who “travelled around Europe for six months, showcasing his music before taking time to pursue his education” at AU, according to the press release. His current favorite artists include rappers Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller and Chance the Rapper.

“I am beyond excited to be stepping onto the same stage as one of the best new faces in hip-hop,” Kaminski said in the press release. “The energy everybody will see up on that stage is something that will forever be unmatched.”

His latest project, a 16-track EP titled “Pretty Cameras,” will be released on April 1, more than a week before the April 10 show.

DJ duo Divided by Zero are regular performers in the D.C. area, including SXSW 2014.

“We’re so excited for the chance to play with one of our favorite artists right in our own backyard,” Nelson said.
