Indie-pop upstarts Echosmith will perform at 9:30 Club on Feb. 26 as part of their first headlining tour.
The Los Angeles-based group formed in 2009, but had known each other long before then. Siblings Sydney (vocals), Graham (drums), Jamie (guitar/vocals) and Noah Sierota (bass/vocals) all came from the same musical household. The band signed to Warner Bros. record label in 2012, and that same year it released pop-rock covers of popular songs like “I Will Wait” by Mumford and Sons, “Lights” by Ellie Goulding and “Somebody That I Used To Know” by Gotye
Shortly after signing, Echosmith supported Owl City on tour and played both the 2013 and 2014 Vans Warped Tour, each time drawing more attention. In 2013, it released its debut album “Talking Dreams,” with the group adopting a more indie-influenced sound. With the dawn of summer 2014, its single “Cool Kids” broke the Top 40 and became a more common, radio-bolstered name in young adult demographics.
On the heels of a successful 2014, the indie/ pop-rock group has geared up for its own headlining tour. With a sound reminiscent of the upbeat instrumentals of Fences, Echosmith’s performance is undoubtedly one to look forward to.
Echosmith will be playing 9:30 Club on Feb. 26 with supporting act The Colourist. Doors are at 5 p.m. and tickets are sold out.
