Public Safety seeks information on incident with alleged members of EI

Public Safety has launched an investigation into the April 16 incident on the quad involving several alleged members of Epsilon Iota.

Campus police distributed pamphlets around campus to students last week calling for witnesses or information regarding the incident in front of MGC. The pamphlet advises students who might have information to call Public Safety’s non-emergency number or leave an anonymous tip online on their website.

The investigation is ongoing, Acting Assistant Vice President of Communications Todd Sedmak said.

One non-AU student was barred, which means he is prohibited from coming onto campus for five years, Sedmak said. If the non-AU student returns, he will be arrested by Public Safety.

Sedmak said he could not comment on other details of the investigation because the case is pending.

EI is a group unaffiliated with AU that emerged from Alpha Tau Omega, a fraternity which was disbanded in 2001. A chain of emails between members of EI was widely leaked last year, and the episode saw EI receive heavy criticism, The Eagle previously reported.
