Concert Preview: Vacationer to bring Nu-Hula to U Street Music Hall

Philadelphia based Nu-Hula band Vacationer will perform at U Street Music Hall September 18 at 7:00 p.m.

Mixing tropical beats, electronica and a little soul, Vacationer will perform songs from their most recent album, “Relief.” As its name, the album’s title and lead single “The Wild Life” may suggest, the central themes of the band and its music is escape and relaxation. Lead singer and bassist Kenny Vasoli recently explained to “East of the 8th” blog that he wanted to create electronic music that “wasn’t loud but that wasn’t acoustic.” Vacationer mixes the two in a blend of genres to create a new style they dubbed “Nu-Hula.”

Vacationer and opening act Great Good Fine Ok are sure to put on a great show full of the promise of still-budding talent and revolutionary genre-defining melodies.

Vacationer will perform at U Street Music Hall on September 18 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available for $18.
